FULL DAY TOUR

View of Clifton Beach and Camps Bay

Superlative white beaches adorn Clifton dividing it into four by rocky granite outcrops. Millionaire homes cling to the slopes above the beaches; it is a favourite area of the rich and famous. Camps Bay is situated on the western edge of Table Mountain, known as the ‘Twelve Apostles’, it forms an impressive backdrop to a long sandy beach. Popular bars and restaurants are close by just over Victoria Road.

Hout Bay

Nestling in a bay and towered over by the 1000 foot Sentinel Peak this is a hub of activity for seafood lovers. Here is the sweetest crayfish in the entire world (exported to the White House!) You can buy fresh fish here and have it grilled on the spot.

Hout Bay - Cape Town

Chapman’s Peak Drive (if open)

This drive, an engineering masterpiece, is hewn in to the mountainside. Magnificent views of the sea hundreds of feet below make it a breathtaking experience and one to rival California’s Pacific Coast Highway.

An optional lunch will be available at a local restaurant.

Simons Town

Picturesque with old buildings and possibly the best swimming beaches, Seaforth and Boulders. The town has a long association with the British Navy and served as a base from 1814 to 1957. Next to the dock stands a statue of Just Nuisance, a Great Dane adopted by the navy as a mascot. He purportedly enjoyed his pint of beer and would accompany the sailors to Cape Town, always leading the drunken ones back to catch the last train. He was indicted as an Able Seaman and given a Military funeral upon his death. The town has a popular waterfront with shops, restaurants, toy museum and gemstone factory. Teddy Bears are a specialty and  traditional South African outfits can be bought for them.

Boulders Penguin Colony (optional)

This colony of vulnerable African Penguins can be viewed along wooden walkways in their natural habitat.

Cape Point Nature Reserve &
Cape of Good Hope

This reserve covers 19,000 acres and consists of rolling hills, natural flora and fauna abound. There are many walking trails and exciting deserted beaches to frequent.  Eland, baboon, ostrich and bontebok can be sighted. A road leads to the Cape of Good Hope which is the southwestern most point of the continent. Cape Point slices into the Atlantic and there is a viewing platform next to the lighthouse. The views are spectacular and you feel to be on the southern tip of Africa but that is actually 100 miles to the south east at Cape Agulhus. The park has excellent land based whale watching spots. Whales return to these waters to calve from June to November. Southern Right Whales, Humpbacks and Brydes can be seen. On occasions schools of dolphins as well. A Global Atmosphere Watch Station is situated near the lighthouse to monitor weather patterns, one of only 20 in the world, specifically situated here because at Cape Point the air is considered particularly pure.
